Customer Review

"I love our new system! We have the Veeder-Root TLS-350. It has made my life so easy. I just get my readings, push a button, do some quick calculations and I’m done. It’s quick, reliable and extremely accurate. Commercial Fuel has been quick to respond if I have had any issues or concerns. They have come to our site to make sure we stay compliant. Koski Enterprises is very pleased with the performance of the system and the customer service support we receive from Commercial Fuel Systems."

Our History

Improving the Business of Others

Lew Dixon started Commercial Fuel Systems in 1977.

This article (PDF) from the Daily Record takes a brief look at some of the company's history.

Commercial Fuel Systems, Inc., was founded in 1977 by Lew Dixon. Dixon started his career as a flight engineer with the Army Air Corps. After serving in the Army, he pursued a degree in mechanical engineering at North Carolina State University. For the next 20 years he worked with the government. He credits his success to always trying to help his customers succeed.

Gasoline Club

After watching gas prices increase, Dixon decided to monitor gasoline usage using a computer. This began as something called a "gasoline club." Local customers could monitor their monthly gas usage using a computer system. At the end of every month club members would receive their gas use report. At first the club was slow to catch on, but over time it was increasingly successful. Lew and his son Gurney saw the benefits and savings the club provided to members and were confident they could help many more customers.

Growing Business by Lowering Expenses

Through the years Commercial Fuel Systems has proudly served clients in many industries, from retail gas stations to the State of Maryland (saving tax payers millions of dollars). The hallmark of the company has been delivering a high level of service while saving money for customers. The savings to the environment has been significant as well.

Family Business Brings Peace of Mind

Our offices are still in Mount Airy, Maryland. The company president is Mark Dixon, Lew's youngest son. We've been in this business for over 30 years. This stability gives customers peace of mind when it comes to fuel management.
